Our ISS Program helps adults with developmental disabilities build the adaptive skills needed for confident community living. Through hands‑on activities like art, gardening, and enrichment, participants strengthen life skills, social connections, and community inclusion. Sunshine Center is a licensed DAHS ISS‑only provider, offering on‑site and off‑site activities Monday–Friday from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM. We focus on empowering each individual to grow, participate, and shine.
Home-based Habilitation provides one‑on‑one support in the client’s home and community to build essential daily living skills. Services focus on maintaining a safe, independent home life; accessing community resources; pursuing leisure activities; and working toward educational or employment goals. This personalized support helps individuals increase independence, remain safely in their homes, and lead full, healthy, and purposeful lives.
This program helps individuals find and succeed in community‑based jobs that match their strengths and interests. Staff assess each person’s abilities, explore opportunities, assist with applications, and prepare them for interviews. After employment is secured, we provide on‑the‑job coaching to build vocational skills, support workplace success, and implement needed accommodations so each employee can confidently maintain meaningful, long‑term employment.
Family Support offers outreach, education, referrals, and guidance for families who have a loved one with a developmental disability. Through our quarterly Family Support Group, families learn about available resources, share experiences, offer input on Sunshine services, and build a supportive network with others who understand their journey. By strengthening and supporting caregivers, we help reduce stress, improve well‑being, and create a healthier, more stable environment for the individuals
All services offered are for adults (18 years and older) who either work or live in Galveston County and have a developmental disability.
